The 2009 Annual Quiz Night was a great success.  This year, like the previous, we received huge support from the Sacred Heart College community and whilst the total funds raised are still to be finalised, I would expect that the total funds would be an impressive amount.

The organisation and workload of the Quiz Night is huge and I sincerely thank all the P&F members and College staff for their dedication and commitment to this event.  I particularly like to thank Annise Law who took on the role as Quiz Night coordinator. 

Peter Vlahos, as always, does a terrific job as MC and we are very appreciative and grateful – thank you, Peter.

Meetings are held at 7.30pm on the second Monday of each month in the Staff Room in the Administration building.
All parents are invited to attend.

The College has a very active Parents and Friends Association. The Association organises a number of events throughout the year to enable parents to meet and socialise.

This group also raises funds to provide extra teaching aids and equipment, grounds development and other amenities.

Each family is invited to make a voluntary financial contribution each Semester and to support special fund raising events.

The Sacred Heart P&F Football tipping competition is back again this year.  Last season we had nearly 100 people pit their skills against each other and this year we are looking for many, many more Parents, Staff, Students, Family, Friends and Work Colleagues to make this competition bigger and better.  All interested people will need to read the following rules, complete the attached form/s and return it with $30 in an envelope marked P&F Football Tipping, prior to Wednesday 25 March.  Alternatively you can join online (see Rule 9 below on how to get into the tipping software) and forward your entry fee in an envelope as above – remember to place you name on the envelope so that I know who it is from.

The competition will utilize computer software, similar to last year.  For those without access to e-mail or Internet, alternative arrangements can be made.

RULES

  • Each round’s tips will close at 3.30 pm for tips forwarded via the school or 10 minutes before the start of the first game for tips placed electronically or by telephone.  Failure to lodge tips by these times will result in the awarding of away teams. 
  • For participants forwarding their tips via school, alternative arrangements will be required during school holidays.
  • There will be a winner each week of the 22 regular season rounds and a weekly prize will be awarded.
  • The winner of the weekly prize will be the competitor that picks the most winners of the AFL games in each round.  Each successful pick will be awarded one point.
  • In the event of a tie for a particular round (eg. more than 1 competitor picks 8 winners), the margin game will be used to determine the winner.
  • The competitor that is closest to the margin (above or below) and has picked the correct team to win in the margin game, will be declared the winner.
  • The margin game will be the game that is played in Perth each round.
  • If there is still a tie, i.e. 2 or more competitors have picked the same margin, they will share the weekly prize.
  • The weekly winners and tipping ladder will be posted on the Sacred Heart Website www.sacredheart.wa.edu.au  under COMMUNITY / Parents & Friends and then scroll down to 2009 Competition Online link.  
  • Prizes will also be awarded to the top overall tipsters and also for the top tipsters during rounds 1 to 8, 9 to 15 and 16 to 22.  If more than one person finishes on equal points No countback system will be used to separate them.  In such a case the prizemonies will be distributed equally between them.
  • The total number of competitors will determine the exact value of the weekly, round and end-of-year prizes and how many of each are awarded.  The competitors will be advised as soon as possible after the start of the competition what the prize distribution will be.  Prizes will not be finalized until all fees are collected.
  • The cost is $30 for the season and payment is required in full before round 1.  Failure to pay by round 1 will see non-financial competitors receiving the lowest tips for each round they are un-financial.
  • Payment of $30 is to be made by cash or cheque payable to: Sacred Heart P&F and forwarded via the school.



INSTRUCTIONS FOR 2009 FOOTY TIPPING

Welcome to the 2009 Sacred Heart P & F Footy Tipping Competition and thank you for your participation.

To access the footy tipping, please follow the following instructions:

  1. Go to the Sacred Heart College web site at www.sacredheart.wa.edu.au and select COMMUNITY / Parents & Friends.
  2. Under COMMUNITY / Parents & Friends, scroll down and click on the 2009 Competition Online link.  This will take you to the footy tipping site.  A new window will open up.  At this stage you may want to bookmark this page in your favourites or create a shortcut on your desktop for a link to this page.                                              
  3. Follow the prompt “Click here to continue”.  You will now enter the Competition Summary page.  Click on the Tippers tab on the left hand side.  You will now enter the list of competition tippers.  Locate your name and left click on it.  A password window will open.  The first time you open this click on OK and left click on Change password.  For security of your tipping, please enter a password (there is no Old Password, just enter your New Password, then Confirm your Password and click on OK).  Get back to the tips entry page.  (If you have entered on-line you would have already entered your Password).
  4. To lodge your tips, click on the circle next to the team you are selecting to win, not forgetting to pick the points in the margin game at the bottom.  Once you have completed your tips, click on the Submit Tips button in the bottom right hand corner and you are now complete.
  5. You may go into a Round as many times as you like before closing time to amend your tips, not forgetting to submit your tips on all occasions.
  6. Tipping for future Rounds can be done at any time.
  7. The Round will be closed by the system automatically at the times and dates listed in the Rules section – located under the Rules tab in the top left hand corner of each page.  You can also find additional information in this location, such as team and game history and the league ladder.
