- Counselling and support to students for a variety of topics including stress, anxiety, depression, self esteem and anger. This can be related to a number of factors such as school, family or friends.
- Psychological and educational assessments to identify a student level of functioning to assist with determining their educational needs.
- Support and strategies to staff and parents regarding behavioural and educational needs of students.
- Counselling for staff and parents regarding school or personal matters.
- Group programs for issues including Protective Behaviours, Anxiety, Grief and Loss, Social Skills and resiliency
- Parent Forums regarding topics such as drugs and alcohol, bullying, and preparing for examinations.
- Assisting with the Study Skills program.
- Parenting teenagers’ courses to support and inspire parents.
- Networks with external agencies and stakeholders.
Is it confidential?
It is important that we respect young people’s right to privacy and that they are provided with a safe environment to talk. Students are offered confidentiality unless otherwise discussed and as such parents are not routinely contacted. If however a student is considered at risk to themselves or others this will not be kept confidential. Generally most students are comfortable for their parents to be involved.
How do I make an appointment to see the Psychologist?
Students can make an appointment directly with Mrs Allison or through the administration in the Pastoral Care Centre; alternatively they can make an appointment via email or phone. Parents and teachers can also make a referral, generally in consultation with the appropriate Dean.
