In a powerful show of solidarity and generosity, 15 Year 12 students and two teachers participated in the World's Greatest Shave today, raising an impressive $20,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation. The initiative, supported by peers, staff, friends, families, and the wider Sacred Heart College community, demonstrated the participants' courage and dedication to making a meaningful difference.
Among the standout fundraisers were Taj Filipe (Thu Duc), who raised $4,220, and teacher Rob Popiel, who contributed $3,054. Their remarkable efforts, alongside those of their peers, played a significant role in reaching the fundraising goal.
The event was organised by the 2024 College Captains, Alicia Ryan (Kimberley) and Jack Georgiu (Hannan), who came up with the idea and coordinated the details to ensure its success. The participants were also supported by volunteer hairdressers, including SHC parents Rebecca Gorman-Kish (Hair by Bec) and Ellen Gumbleton (Elsalon), as well as Alumni Jessica Morton (née Stewart, Class of 2005), Stephen Stewart (SRS Hair, Class of 2014), and current Year 12 student Kade Orzanski (Trinity). Their professional contributions were invaluable in making the event possible.
The Sacred Heart College community extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated, attended, and supported the event. The funds raised will go a long way in supporting the vital work of the Leukaemia Foundation. For those who would still like to contribute, donations can be made HERE.
This event not only raised essential funds but also highlighted the spirit of community and compassion that defines Sacred Heart College. Well done to all involved.
