Parents and Friends Association

PROUD TO BE PART OF THE HEART
The Sacred Heart Parents and Friends (P&F) Committee is passionate about working actively to make our College a safe and welcome space for all members of our learning community.

P&F members are dedicated to building a sense of belonging and connection between parents/caregivers from all year groups and to supporting student engagement and learning.

As representatives of the larger parent body, P&F members collaborate with members of the Executive, teaching staff and the Parent Advisory Council regarding new College initiatives, processes and strategic imperatives that impact the College's core business of teaching and learning.

Building Connections

Primarily a friend-raising rather than a fundraising group, the P&F meet regularly to organise social events to build parent/caregiver connections and create the 'village' that keeps our students safe and supported. Working closely with the College's Parent Engagement Coordinator, the P&F provides funding for parent social events for each cohort to build the parent connections at the heart of our community.

Social Events

Annual P&F parent engagement events include:

Welcome Food Truck Markets (Term 1)

Hosted in collaboration with Market Sisters, the Sacred Heart community is warmly invited to enjoy a sunset picnic on the Oval, with food trucks and market stalls available against the backdrop of the Indian Ocean.

Cars on the Coast (Term 1, biennially)

The P&F Cars on the Coast is a biennial event that sees the Oval transform into a display of classic and modern cars from within the local community.

Quiz Night (Term 2)

Hosted by an external provider, the Koort Centre (gymnasium) is transformed into a lively quiz arena, complete with questions, prizes, and plenty of fun.

Cold Dip - Warm Hearts (Term 2)

Scheduled in the middle of winter, this early morning dip in the ocean promotes health and wellbeing while fostering connection both within families and across the community. The experience concludes with a shared coffee and breakfast before students make their way to school.

Mother's Day and Father's Day Breakfasts (Terms 2 & 3)

Parents, caregivers and their children are invited to enjoy a complimentary breakfast on the Friday morning following Mother’s/Father’s Day, providing a special opportunity to celebrate the important role families play in our College community.

Parent Coffee Mornings (various)

Various parent coffee mornings are scheduled for parents, including on Year 7 First Day and Meet the Principal/Assistant Deputy Principal sessions.

Christmas Night Markets (Term 4)

Also in collaboration with Market Sisters, the Christmas Night Markets offer parents and caregivers the opportunity to gather and celebrate the end of the school year, with food trucks, festive market stalls and a warm community atmosphere.

Be Part of the Heart

Volunteering

Volunteering with the P&F can provide parents/caregivers with valuable opportunities to be a part of student life on campus by helping at the House Feast Day sausage sizzles, Sacred Heart Day food stalls, the Year 7 Welcome BBQ or assisting with the set-up of P&F and College events. Register your interest.

Meetings

All parents/caregivers are warmly invited to join P&F meetings, held at 6:00pm on the second Monday of each month in The Hywood Room (Staff Room). Parents can also join remotely through Microsoft Teams.

All families contribute to the annual P&F Levy and are welcome to be a part of the P&F - an important aspect of the College's decision-making forum.

Upcoming Meetings

The P&F Committee is a great place to engage with fellow parents and the school leadership team to hear about student engagement and to also put forward initiatives to make the College an even greater environment for our kids. As President, I hope to bring new ideas and enthusiasm to the P&F and welcome any parents to come and join in the discussions at our monthly meetings.

John Williams

P&F President

Although our P&F meetings often happen over a platter of cheese, a glass of wine and a shared sense of fun, we are serious about making Sacred Heart College a warm and vibrant community and we welcome all families to join us to become 'part of the heart'.

Mrs Sandra Manning

Deputy Principal - Community

The thing I most enjoy about being part of the College's P&F is the distribution of funds! I feel like Oprah! "You get a grant!... And you get a grant!" But in all seriousness... having the privilege to be presented with a need and then having the ability to authorise it being addressed, which then results in our kids having a better school experience, well, that's a joy to be a part of!

Ellen Gumbleton

P&F Vice-President

Being part of the P&F gives me the chance to contribute to the school community in a meaningful way. I enjoy connecting with other families, supporting events and knowing that I’m playing a small role in creating a positive and supportive environment for all our children.
