Vision for Learning

Inspired by the RNDM charism, Sacred Heart College is a Catholic community of learners committed to connection, challenge, and holistic growth as Hearts for Life. Our learning culture is guided by The Sacred Heart Way, which shapes our shared values and beliefs about education.

Connect

“Let your task be to encourage.”

Euphrasie taught that mission begins with relationship. To connect is to meet others with gentleness, to listen before judging, and to see God’s image in every person.

Learning that connects builds belonging - a classroom where encouragement replaces criticism and presence comes before performance.

We believe students thrive in relational, interconnected learning environments that create meaningful engagement between people, their communities and the world.

This requires mutual respect, empathy and placing heart and humanity at the centre of learning.

Priorities

Nurture Respectful Relationships

That promote belonging, acceptance and inclusivity in safe, supportive classrooms.

Build Feedback Cycles

That connects students to their learning and guide them towards independence.

Foster Empathy

By creating authentic learning experiences that connect students for the real world and an appreciation of different perspectives.

Challenge

“What you are not able to do today, you will do tomorrow.”

For Euphrasie, challenge was holy work. Each obstacle - new language, new land, new call - was an invitation to grow stronger in trust.

In learning, challenge stretches curiosity and builds resilience. We rise to meet it together, knowing that growth takes time and courage.

We believe a culture of high expectations enables each learner to work towards their personal best.

We employ contemporary pedagogies to engage students’ hearts and minds in learning environments that are places of exploration, joy and deep learning.

Priorities

Design Differentiated Learning

Informed by data, adapting content, processes and environments to meet diverse needs.

Promote Excellence

By fostering self-belief and encouraging the pursuit of ambitious goals.

Ignite Curiosity

By encouraging critical thinking, exploration and creativity.

Grow

“Let us learn to be content with what God gives us and do all for love.”

Growth, for Euphrasie, was transformation of the heart. True education shapes both intellect and spirit - helping us become more compassionate, wise, and hopeful.

To grow is to keep learning, keep serving, and keep opening ourselves to grace.

We believe that lifelong learning begins with a growth mindset.

We create opportunities for students to develop their self-efficacy, personal attributes and social identity, nurturing young adults with a heart for life.

Priorities

Model Lifelong Learning

Through passion, adaptability and reflective practice.

Equip Students with Learning and Technological Capabilities

To navigate an increasingly complex world with discernment.

Curate Opportunities for Personal Agency

So students see themselves as active citizens who can advocate for change.
