Vacancy: English Teacher

We are seeking a committed, enthusiastic and adaptable English Teacher to join our dedicated and high-performing English Department. This is a full-time, 12-month contract position, commencing in Term 1, 2026.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Head of English, the successful candidate will be a dynamic and innovative educator who inspires and motivates students to engage deeply with their learning. As a vital member of the English team, they will have a proven track record of supporting and enhancing academic achievement.

Our English team consists of passionate readers and writers who are dedicated to helping students build meaningful connections with literature. We take great pride in nurturing our students’ growth and fostering lifelong skills in reading and writing.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Ability to teach English across all year levels with confidence and expertise.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in implementing differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs.
  • Willingness to collaborate in designing innovative programs of work across multiple year groups and to lead a subject-specific year-level teaching team.
  • Readiness to co-coordinate courses of study within various year levels.
  • Commitment to using innovative teaching methodologies and staying current with the latest pedagogical trends in English education.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and build positive, respectful, and inclusive relationships with students, parents, and all College staff.

What we are seeking:

  • A strong passion for creative writing and reading, with a genuine commitment to encouraging students to develop and deepen their own love for literature.
  • Ability to teach English effectively across all year levels.
  • Experience in designing and delivering differentiated units of work tailored to diverse learning needs.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based strategies aimed at improving literacy outcomes.
  • Proficiency in integrating technology and digital tools within the classroom to enhance student learning.
  • An awareness of, and appreciation for, the Catholic ethos that underpins the College community.
