What happens if my child is late for school?
Students should report directly to the PCC to sign in if they arrive after 8:45am. Parents/caregivers are asked to ring the Absentee Line (9246 8288) to indicate the whereabouts of their child.
What happens if my child is late to class?
Students are expected to arrive on time to all classes. If a student arrives late, the teacher will speak with them to check the reason. If a student is late without a valid reason three times in one week, a sanction may be issued by their ADP.
What happens if my child needs to leave school early?
If a student needs to leave the College early, the following process applies:
- The student should inform their teacher at the start of the lesson of the time they need to leave.
- Five minutes before the departure time, the student will leave class, collect their school bag and report to the Pastoral Care Centre (PCC).
- Staff in the PCC will notify College Reception that the student is waiting.
- The student will remain in the PCC until their parent/guardian arrives.
- When the parent/guardian arrives, they are asked to remain in their car and call the Pastoral Care Centre (PCC) on 9246 8202 or College Reception on 9246 8200.
- The student will then be sent to meet their parent/guardian.
What if my child is sick on the day of a test?
Students who are sick on the day of a test are asked to stay home and get better. Parents/caregivers must email their child's ADP to explain the reason for absence. The ADP will then notify teachers.
What if my child has Approved Leave and will miss tests?
Parents/caregivers must apply directly to the Principal for Approved Leave. Further information will then be provided.
What if my child needs to be excused from Physical Education?
If the absence is short term, students should bring a note from their parent/caregiver explaining the reason and present it to their PE teacher at the start of the lesson. Alternatively, parents/caregivers may email their child’s PE teacher prior to the lesson.
If the absence is longer term (more than one week) due to injury, students should provide a note from their parent/caregiver along with a letter from their doctor or physiotherapist outlining the injury and the period they are unable to participate. Alternatively, parents/caregivers may email their child’s PE teacher and attach the relevant medical documentation.
Day-to-day
How can my child know what is going on at the school each week?
Students are encouraged to check Teams, their email and the College Calendar every day.
What if my child can't open their padlock?
Students who are having trouble opening their padlock can get assistance from the PCC who will help them open it with a master key.
What if my child forgets their recess/lunch or they do not have enough credit to pay at the Cafe?
Students can get assistance from the PCC.
Where should my child keep their phone during the day?
Phones need to be in student lockers from the moment they arrive at school up until they leave. If a student is found with their phone during the school day, it will be confiscated and taken to the PCC.
What if my child loses their Smartrider?
Replacement Smartriders can be purchased from the 'Other Charges' category on the Online Store (CDFpay).
How does payment in the Cafe work?
The Café is open for breakfast and at recess and lunch. Students can either walk in or order their lunch in advance. The Café accepts payment via Smartrider (loaded with funds via Flexischools) or EFTPOS. Phones and smart watches cannot be used for payment.
Recess or lunch can be ordered by the CDFpay app. Further details are available HERE.
Uniform
What are the uniform expectations?
Sacred Heart College's compulsory uniform expectations and rules have been expertly designed to promote community, inclusivity and practicality. It is the responsibility of the students and their parents/caregivers to ensure that uniforms are worn appropriately, to a high standard and freshly laundered. More information is available HERE.
What if my child can't wear the correct uniform to school or they have lost part of their formal uniform?
If a student cannot wear the correct uniform to school on a particular day, parents/caregivers can email a reason to their child's PCG Teacher. This information will be recorded on SEQTA for other teachers to view.
