Vacancy: Director of Finance & Corporate Services

We are seeking an accomplished and commercially minded Director of Finance and Corporate Services to join our College. This is an ongoing position, commencing January 2027.

About the role:
Reporting directly to the Principal, you will be a key member of the Executive Leadership team, playing a strategically important role in shaping the direction, performance and long-term success of the College. As the Director of Finance and Corporate Services, you will provide leadership across the College’s finance and corporate services functions, ensuring sound financial stewardship, robust governance and operational excellence. This position combines strategic leadership with operational excellence, providing the opportunity to influence decision-making at the highest level.

You will monitor and improve systems, policies and procedures across all elements of financial and operational matters - including budgeting, forecasting, financial and management accounting, cash flow management and the various Corporate Service functions for the College. You will lead multiple teams and employees, building a high-performance and engaged workplace. In addition to this, you will be working within a complex, regulated environment, providing high-level advice to all stakeholders.

Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Lead all financial and management accounting functions, including cash flow management across the College. 
  • Lead all Corporate Services functions across the College.
  • Build strong relationships across the College, influence and shape decision-making at all levels of the College Operations.
  • Develop and deliver financial strategy, planning, budgeting, forecasting and scenario analysis to support the College’s objectives.
  • Monitor and improve systems, policies and procedures across all elements of financial and operational matters.
  • Provide high-level financial advice and strategic insights to the Principal, Executive Committee, Council and the various council Sub Committees. 
  • Serve as an Executive Officer to the Advisory Committee and relevant Sub Committees.
  • Lead financial analysis, risk management and governance initiatives.
  • Support capital planning decisions through sound financial analysis and capital works developments.
  • Drive continuous improvement, building on a strong foundation through contemporary and innovative ideas.
  • Build strong relationships across the College, influence and shape decision-making at all levels of the College Operations.
  • Lead, mentor and develop high-performing employees, fostering an engaged, collaborative and accountable workplace culture.

What we are seeking:

  • Significant senior finance leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading finance together with corporate services and other business support functions.
  • Leading the College’s corporate services functions, ensuring the delivery of efficient, student focused support services that strengthen the College’s presence and sustainability.
  • Strong commercial acumen with highly developed analytical skills to evaluate business performance, assess risk, and interpret and present complex data to diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven capability in financial strategy, planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and capital works planning.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across the College and confidently influencing leaders and key stakeholders on complex business, financial and corporate service matters.
  • Provide high level advice to the Principal, Executive, Advisory Council and their relevant Sub Committees.
  • Proven ability to negotiate, influence and work with external parties such as CEWA Ltd, government bodies, local councils and key service providers.
  • Outstanding leadership capability, with a track record of building rapport across the College, developing high-performing teams, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Confidence in influencing others and navigating difficult conversations around financial matters, backed by excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong organisational, project-management and problem-solving skills.
  • Current CA or CPA qualification.
  • MBA (desirable).

Salary conditions: This position is remunerated with CEWA LTD, Business Managers Salary Schedule: Category 9
