Vacancy: Education Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Support Assistant to join our College in a part-time capacity (four days per week, FTE 0.8). This is a temporary contract position from 20/7/26 - 31/12/26.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Head of Learning Area - Inclusion, the successful applicant will support and promote the College’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. You will assist in providing meaningful learning opportunities and interventions that enhance the participation and outcomes of students with disabilities and/or specific learning needs. Working alongside classroom teachers, you will support the delivery, monitoring and supervision of inclusive learning experiences across the College.

Your responsibilities include:

Student support

  • Support all students’ learning activities.
  • Encourage the development of all students’ self-esteem and independence.
  • Facilitate positive interactions among all students.
  • Motivate students and encourage student participation.

Support for the teacher

  • Provide feedback on student progress to assist teaching staff in maintaining best practice reporting.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans as developed by teaching staff.  Assist the teacher in the preparation of material for classes, set up and pack down of materials required. 

Support for the Education Support Centre

  • A commitment to model diversity and inclusivity as all times across the College.
  • When requested, attend Professional Development to remain up-to-date with contemporary pedagogy.
  • A willingness to be involved in other duties as directed by the Head of Inclusion.

  • Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with staff, students, parents/caregivers and others. 
  • Ability to promote a dynamic learning environment supporting innovative pedagogy.
  • Active participation in extra-curricular activities.
  • Support the Catholic ethos of the College.

Desirable:

  • Extensive experience and training in working with learning difficulties and/or disability will be highly regarded.
