Vacancy: Gifted and Talented Teacher
We are seeking a dedicated and committed Gifted and Talented Teacher to join our College. This part-time (FTE: 0.4), temporary position (12-month contract) commencing Term 1, 2027. This role offers an exciting opportunity to inspire students, foster curiosity, critical thinking, and contribute to a vibrant, high performing learning environment.
About the role:
Reporting to the Head of Learning Area – Gifted and Talented, you will work collaboratively to support and enhance learning opportunities for students identified as gifted and talented. You will contribute to developing and implementing programs that appropriately challenge, extend and support highly able students, enabling them to maximise their academic potential and pursue excellence in their areas of strength.
A key focus of the role is supporting students to participate in academic competition opportunities and co-curricular programs that extend learning beyond the core curriculum and foster the development of their skills, interests and talents. The role involves the active engagement in the planning, coordination and delivery of these programs, including supporting students during activities held both within and outside regular school hours.
Responsibilities as a Gifted and Talented Teacher: Gifted and Talented Teaching Practice:
- Teaching year 7 – 8 Gifted and Talented students.
- Develop higher order thinking programs that that reflect the principles of an extension curriculum model.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Document student performance and ensure accurate records are maintained.
- Ensure academic successes are collated and reported during the year.
Co-Curricular Activities:
- Organise and attend all relevant co-curricular activities which often occur outside of school hours, such as, World Scholars, Tournament of the Minds and various interschool club competitions.
What we are seeking:
- A passionate and experienced Gifted and Talented Teacher with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff, students and parents.
- A highly dedicated and knowledgeable Teacher who is able to design curriculum that implements higher order thinking.
- A highly organised Gifted and Talented Teacher with excellent administrative skills to effectively organise co-curricular programmes and competitions for students to participate in.
- A willingness to commit time to attend co-curricular programs during and outside school hours, to coach, support and observe student performances.

- A commitment and understanding of the Catholic ethos and the College values of Compassion, Courage and Respect.
Desirable: Masters of Gifted Education and/or equivalent qualification in supporting highly able students
