Vacancy: Learning Support Education Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Learning Support Education Assistant to join our College. This is a full-time, ongoing position, commencing Term 1, 2027.

About the role:
Reporting to the Head of Learning Area - Learning Support, the successful applicant will demonstrate and model the College’s vision for diversity and inclusion. The successful applicant will support the educational opportunities and interventions designed to improve the learning outcomes of students with specific learning needs. This role directly assists classroom teachers to implement, monitor and supervise the planned learning experiences within the classroom and in other areas as directed.

Your responsibilities include:

Student support

  • Support all students’ learning activities.
  • Encourage the development of all students’ self-esteem and independence.
  • Facilitate positive interactions among all students.
  • Motivate students and encourage student participation.

Support for the teacher

  • Provide feedback on student progress to assist teaching staff in maintaining best practice reporting.
  • Assist in the implementation of Curriculum Adjustment Plans and Individual Education Plans as developed by teaching staff. Assist the teacher in the preparation of material for classes, set up and pack down of materials required. 

Support for the Learning Support Centre

  • A commitment to model diversity and inclusivity as all times across the College.
  • When requested, attend Professional Development to remain up-to-date with contemporary pedagogy.
  • A willingness to be involved in other duties as directed by the Head of Learning Support.

  • Highly logical and organised team member with the ability to manage regular changes in individual priorities.
  • The ability to be flexible and adaptable in the learning environment as required under teacher direction.
  • Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with staff, students, parents/caregivers and others. 
  • Well-developed skills in Information Technology and Communication Technology.
  • An awareness and appreciation for the Catholic ethos of the College.

Essential:

  • Certificate III or IV in Education Support.

Desirable:

  • Extensive experience and training in working with learning difficulties and/or disability will be highly regarded.
